Hello everyone!
I am a friendly and methodical teacher, with plenty of experience and patience. I teach piano, popular singing and music theory. I am happy to help with songwriting, improvisation, general musicianship skills.
I trained in London where I obtained a Master of Music in Piano Performance with Distinction from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, as well as a Master of Music in Popular Music Performance in Voice with Distinction from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. I completed my Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours at Goldsmiths, University of London. I am an avid learner, always reading and regularly attending masterclasses and professional development courses to broaden my knowledge base and elevate my teaching process.
I believe that each person learns differently, thus I offer a bespoke service: each lesson is designed for each individual student, according to the student's needs and interests, using a variety of teaching strategies to enhance the learning experience. A solid foundation of technique, an organised methodical approach and a choice of music that caters to each student's interests, are some of the key elements I pursue as a teacher.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I transferred all lessons to online platforms and have invested considerably in ensuring a quality online learning experience for my students. It has been eye-opening how much we could achieve online, even to a sceptic like myself. The results speak for themselves and I now believe that a combination of online and in-person learning is the future. I now teach predominantly online - lessons in person are arranged by appointment. I am based in London SE1.
If you are interested in studying with me, please don't hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to arrange a consultation session free of charge in order to discuss your aims and my approach.

Tuning Temperaments
How many piano tuning temperaments are there?
There are countless variations, but most fall within three major categories;
1. Meantone, which generally concentrated the dissonance into a few unusable intervals (often called "wolf" intervals), so that the others could be Just. These are often called "restrictive" tunings, since there are certain intervals that are not usable. Good intervals are really good, bad ones are really bad. The Meantone era was approx. 1400-1700
2. Well-Temperament, which gives more consonance to the most often used keys, and more dissonance to the lesser used ones. Though not equal, these tunings are "non-restrictive" because all intervals can be used. The intervals range from Just to barely acceptable. Well-temperament refers to a genre, not a specific tuning. The Well-Tempered era is approx. 1700-1880.
3. Equal Temperament, which spreads the dissonance equally among all intervals.
There is no difference in consonance or dissonance between any keys, thus, there are no good ones or bad ones. Equal temperament represents a complete average. Dates of its acceptance are debated, but there is ample evidence that it was widely available by 1900 and is the predominate tuning on keyboards, today.
