Erard Grand Piano

Post by michaelmace »

Hi, I have an Erard grand piano and was interested to find out more about it’s history. It has a 78067 serial number. Pics attached I hope.

The number suggests that it was made in 1893. Near the bottom of my Archives page

there is some information about Erards' archives, which are becoming available online.

If you move to the right of the serial number, near the hinges, is there an oblong mark with the year written in it?

Thanks for that construction date, there is no date near the hinge I’m afraid.

The other possibility is that if your tuner feels it is safe to pull out the action, it may be dated at the lefthand end.
