PeiPei has been learning piano as a soloist since the age of four, and has participated in many concerts and competitions in Taiwan, UK and Europe. She has a Master degree from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she worked as a professional vocal and instrument accompanist. Recent years, she activity performed in charity concerts. PeiPei is currently studying piano under professor Philip Jenkins, who is widely recognised as one of Britian sought- after teacher.
Coming from a teachers' background (both her parents are teachers), PeiPei naturally loves teaching and working with young people. She holds a first degree in Music Education from a teachers' college in her home country (Taiwan), which means that she is fully trained as a music teacher. She also has 18 years experience teaching piano privately to people of all ages. Through her strong background in teaching and performance, PeiPei has mastered many creative methods to make people enjoy learning piano and being confident about themselves. She strongly believes that learning music should be both formative and enjoyable. " Dogs and Birds " series is one of the creative materials she often use for the younger children.

I am based in Solihull(Shirley), and can give lessons during weekdays and weekends. I have teaching grade exams up to diploma. Any age welcome! I have all sort of age students between 4-70 years old. Feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs.

Tuning Temperaments
How many piano tuning temperaments are there?
There are countless variations, but most fall within three major categories;
1. Meantone, which generally concentrated the dissonance into a few unusable intervals (often called "wolf" intervals), so that the others could be Just. These are often called "restrictive" tunings, since there are certain intervals that are not usable. Good intervals are really good, bad ones are really bad. The Meantone era was approx. 1400-1700
2. Well-Temperament, which gives more consonance to the most often used keys, and more dissonance to the lesser used ones. Though not equal, these tunings are "non-restrictive" because all intervals can be used. The intervals range from Just to barely acceptable. Well-temperament refers to a genre, not a specific tuning. The Well-Tempered era is approx. 1700-1880.
3. Equal Temperament, which spreads the dissonance equally among all intervals.
There is no difference in consonance or dissonance between any keys, thus, there are no good ones or bad ones. Equal temperament represents a complete average. Dates of its acceptance are debated, but there is ample evidence that it was widely available by 1900 and is the predominate tuning on keyboards, today.
