Rosenthal Piano

Post by philgdust »

Can anyone help me? I have just bought a Piano off eBay.
Under the lid it says
Rosenthal
Berlin

Just above the keys is a tag with
J. B. Cramer & Co, Liverpool as Sole Agents

Does anyone know how old, where it came from etc???

Many thanks

Phil

I have never found any specifi details about Rosenthal, but they are German pianos. Cramers in Liverpool evidently sold it, but nothing there tells us when. Have a look at the Datemakrs page at www.pianogen.org

If you know how to remove the action safely (the working parts of the notes) it may be marked with the action makers' name and number, and we may be able to date this.

I have a beautiful Rosenthal Berlin piano which belonged to my Grandmother who lived in Liverpool. I am thinking of parting with it for a number of reasons but wondered whether it is worth anything or just posting it for free on a Community site was the best way forward - it is lovely wood - I am not sure what.

Nobody anywhere can guess the value or condition of a piano without inspecting it on the spot, and checking whether it holds in tune, so your local tuner is the best person to ask.
