STEADY SOUND

Post by MA. CECILIA M. DE MESA »

hi... can anybody inform me if it is true that when u buy a piano and placed it in a place in your living room for instance, it needs a "residency" on that place for at least 2 months before it be tuned? so as for the piano sound to suit on the space where it is placed? please confirm... thanks...

it helps to allow a piano to 'settle' into its new environment before tuning it. This is because the relative humidity and temperature of the room it is in will almost certainly be different to the factory / dealership / shop it was previously in. Alllowing it to settle means that when it is tuned, the tuning should be more stable, although you should expect to need to tune a new piano more often than an established instrument in any case.
