accompaniment for singers

Post by austingunn »

Dear Piano Teachers,
How many of you play for singing teachers when they are giving lessons?

I was thinking recently of hiring a pianist for my studios but would appreciate some advice from you all.

Also, do you think it would be something you would advise your students to do?

Look forward to replies.
Yours

I've accompanied for singing exams and festivals, and sometimes for the lesson before the exam/festival, but never for a lesson as a matter of course. I should think the cost would be prohibitive for most students, but it would be a far better idea for the teacher, who'd be better able to concentrate on the student's performance.
