The Kemble Minx is a nice quiet piano. There seem to be a few on ebay often.
Or there is someone on another topic at the moment asking to value an eavestaff minipiano. You could probably get that for free and just pay the delivery fee.

a grand is my absolute tops.
I would recommend enlisting the help of a trusted local technician. Ask him to help you find something suitable on ebay and inspect it with you before bidding/buying. You won't get a guarantee or a tuning etc but with the help of your tech you should be fine.

I think the old Bechsteins offer a good alternative to the inflated prices of similar size/age Steinway grands. I prefer the lighter touch of a Bechstein grand and I love the tone too. Old pianos like this make lovely drinks cabinets.
You could convert it yourself as a weekend project.

Freecycle is a hassle and has time wasters.
I'd be delaying signing the tenancy until the piano is removed.

I find people are more inclined to bring their piano teacher rather than their piano tuner, which is a bit strange. But I suppose they see their teacher every week and there is a lot of trust and dialogue in that relationship.

Hi Emma, My feeling is that the P114 is too small in heigh at 114cm. The U1 is 121cm and that is a much healthier height. The U3 is 131cm and has a very rich tone but the U1, although slightly brighter in tone usually, is still a high quality tone. I'd worry about going for something as small as 114...
