Anyone know how much a BG 228 would cost? I'm currently agonizing over which piano to get for myself on a budget of around £11,000. I'm thinking the BG 228 is probably a hefty hike above that figure but I'd be interested to know. The obvious choice given my budget is the Yamaha C3 - I play one at a ...

I used T-Cut on some shallow scratches on our C7 and quite honestly it didn't make any difference that I could see. I also tried some of the Cori range of polishes and although they made the piano nice and shiny I didn't think it made much impact on even the smallest scratches. It's possible I was a...

I had a look at the website of Headingley Pianos. I've played a few Kembles and didn't like them that much, but they were all fairly old examples so perhaps things have moved on. I was interested to read on the same website that the Waldstein 108DI is "the best-selling piano in the U.K." R...

I've been boring everybody senseless on the subject of celeste pedals in an earlier thread - what a fantastic chance to get back on the old hobby horse! How strange - I'd never think of buying one for school that didn't have that option. Oh well. Yes, I think I will actually end up going for one of the Yamaha silent series uprights. I'm not keen on getting extras fitted to the Schimmel because I think it costs plenty enough cash as it is and a celeste pedal should be a standard feature for any school instrument (I'm turning into a right old ...

Schimmel School Piano - a major problem!

I mentioned in an earlier thread that I was thinking of getting a Schimmel studio piano for school and I nearly did until today, when I noticed that it doesn't have a celeste pedal (if you haven't come across one before it's a middle pedal which brings material (felt?) in front of the strings and re...

Steinway - New York or Hamburg?

Hang on a minute; what's the difference between a Steinway piano made in Hamburg and one made in New York? We have a new Yamaha C7 at work and despite using a high quality protective cover the polyester finish shows up lots of little 'scratches' in certain areas (they aren't very deep at all - more like patterns of faint lines).
