Re: do double repetition of a sound upright, why not do?
You do run the risk of braking shanks or blocking the note if the key dip is not solid. Also, if too solid makes the pianist's wrist sore. Better to alterer the rake ( that is the angel of the hammer Butt notch) Steingraeber pianos run into this problem when they made the touch too solid they used t...

OK the simplest way for you is go to a chemist and get some 3% hydrogen peroxide. with rubber gloves on using a clean cloth apply a little of the hydrogen peroxide and rub The trick is little and often Don't over soak the cloth Ivory is porous so not too much each time. if posable put the key in Sun...

Re: How to move a grand piano.
Having 3 bods to move is a good idea, if the piano is moving more than a 3 meters as it will put a strain on the legs. If the piano is in a public building it should have an Aframe if it has an Aframe then not a problem with one bod moving it so long as they can control it

the frame bracing is not a problem it has been done before with Broadwoods
My concern would be the capo bar running to a full length of the piano's treble. capo bar does make the string go false over time more than agraps

Find out who use to tune the piano and ask them the condition, when was the last tuned and was it on a pitch. You may have to pay for a pitch move one you get it home. I have 10 years old + Yamahas on my round that only get tuned every 18 months as they are in a very good environment, the pitch is b...

You have to prove the ivory is before 1936 if after you have to prove its origins a DNA test is the best way.
However, if the ivory is coming off in the US I would remove before shipping to save you the aggravation.
I would give the US embassy a call first as the rules are changing

All depends on how deep your pockets are. The cost of the repair will be more than the piano's worth. To change the tuning pins you are going to need to change the string ideally, you can just repin but it depends on the quality of the strings. The action looks very tired and needs of a full recondi...
