Hobart M. Cable piano

Post by dragonflwer »

A friend gave me a piano and I wanted to know how old it is.
It says, when the key cover is up:

Hobart M. Cable
Chicago
Cabinet Grand

There is a number under the top lid that says:
12676

Thanks, H

The number suggests 1904. We'll have to start a Cable website, I think we've got more cables than BT! I wonder what it is about Cable owners that makes them come to us in the UK?

It could be that we come number 2 –3 in Google for "Cable piano" and 1 – 2 for "Cable Piano History" and there are US sites that cover Cable pianos but you have to dig.

The more questions we answer on US pianos the more we will get asked, it is only taking 2 - 4 days for items posted on the forum to be listed in Google And more than often they are in the top ten for that phrase.

I posted on here because you guys seemed to be pretty quick about responding and it looks like you have the info on Cable pianos. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Thank you, Heather
