What piano exercises do you use for children?
Usually I start a lesson with warming-up exercises by Hanon. But I thought it might be really boring for younger children (9-11 y.o.).
What do you use in this case?
Thank you

The Dozen A Day series are as old as the hills but very good. And Dave's right; rude lyrics will probably make them more fun...
I play for my own amazement...

I was led to believe by my scouser friend that the correct title is in fact 'You'll Never Walk Again'...dave brum wrote:the 'theme' song of Liverpool FC, 'You'll Never Walk Alone'

I hate loathe and detest football - well, all sport really - but must admit I found the book on football songs, 'One Ginger Pele', hysterically funny. Get it from the library, Dave, you'll love it!dave brum wrote:I said football songs not rude songs, there is a difference.Gill the Piano wrote:And Dave's right; rude lyrics will probably make them more fun...

No I don't think he is...but I believe he was referring to the Kop's threats to the Other Side. Have you read One Ginger Pele yet??? You'll like it...

HIi there, Practicing scales and learning the chords are a really good way to begin. With scales, you want to be able to play smoothly but with chords, you want to be able to identify the different ones that there are. Also have some one call out a key and you have to find it on the piano is a really good way to learn the different keys. Also practicing the scales and chords with both left and right hands..Thanks!!!
