A Nail in the coffin for new pianos tuners

Post by Barrie Heaton »

the current funding body (Residential Training Unit or RTU) have given the colleges notice that the maximum that they will be able to fund courses at the college for pianos tuners will be one year only, thus completely taking out the opportunity for adult learners to gain government funding to train as piano tuners and
repairers.

There is a possibility that the Learning and Skills Council will pay for the younger
learners to train, as is happening at the moment, but it is a grave concern that after so
many years that this funding could be withdrawn.

Most of the tuners I know who were at college were funded by Central Gov and not by the LEA manly the over 20s and my course was 3 years +

If you felt that you were able to write to your local MP to express your displeasure about this current situation this would be much appreciated
