Good tip MDW, always try to take a trained tech with you so that you can differentiate between the grotty ones and the brilliant ones. The difference can be quite striking. Sadly, although I often advise folk to bring a technician, very few actually do so I offer a 14 day moneyback guarantee these d...

Re: Yamaha P114
As the name suggests, the P114 is only 114cm tall. This is very small and doesn't allow the piano to have decent length strings or a large soundboard. A nice big soundboard and long strings are required for a high quality tone, that's why concert grand pianos are so long. Consider something 120cm or...

Highly likely to be Chinese.
I thought of an analogy today regarding Chinese pianos.
TV adverts would have you believe that Kellogs Frosties are healthy
Piano manufacturers will have you believe that their cheapest lines are top quality.
The 2 claims are very similar.

Not a baby grand but a real baby.
Yep I became a dad on Friday to beautiful little Sally.
Mum and baby both doing very well.
Time for a month off work methinks
Thankfully august is very quiet. Never thought I'd hear myself be happy for a quiet month!

Re: Mickleburgh Piano straight-strung overdamped
Do we know if Mickleburgh put their sign on it at the point of manufacture or if they perhaps renamed old stencil pianos with their own name? The previous owner of this piano bought it from Mickleburgh in the 1970s. Obviously the piano wasn't new in the 70s which made me think it could have been rep...

The reason for my asking is that I'll be receiving it in part-exchange in the next week or 2.
Did the Mickleburgh piano shop MAKE these pianos?
Or just repolish an old Stencil piano and then put their own name on the front?
Or something else?
THANKS

I don't stock them that old because whenever I've seen them stocked elsewhere they sound terrible. I tend to stick to 1975 onwards. That's the only thing they had.
The front edge of a U3 music desk is quite narrow so it may not be possible to fit. In which case a full new music desk might be needed.

It's a little bit daft that the music desk of some modern pianos, including the U3, doesn't have those little sticky up things to grip the music book.
