Good grief, much of what you just said was like a foreign language to me. It saddens me that I'll never make it to the dizzy heights of grade anything but at least I enjoy playing what I can.

Hi Feg, I usually start at the beginning, but some children get bored quickly with it, they'd rather learn a nice little tune first and then the notation later on. We didn't do much playing yesterday, I got them all to be crotchet soldiers and quickedy quavers

Hello Christine and welcome. I don't know anything about "i" stuff, but my guess is all it could do is pick up on consistent tempo and correct notes, it's not going to help you with technique. Can you afford lessons? There's no substitute for a good teacher. I can't afford lessons any more...
