Re: Grade 2 tomorrow!

Its the same for Grade 2! I had to clap the rhythm of the tune he was playing and say whether it was a 2 or a 3. Not sure if I got this right though, it was really hard to tell! So I guessed and went with a 2! Then there was the singing, I had 3 too QCam! Then there was the playing the piece and sa...

Re: Grade 2 tomorrow!

The aural for grade 1 is as follows. 1) Examiner plays a piece on the piano you have to identify (and clap the beats) how many beats in a bar. (grade 1 it's either 2 beats or 3 beats) 2) Examiner plays a short tune on the piano, you have to sing the same tune back. I had 3 of these, think it's cos h...

What time is a reasonable time to stop ?

I was just wondering what fellow players consider a reasonable time to stop playing the piano in the evening? I don't want to be inconsiderate, yet the neighbors I have aren't the type to approach and ask as they're more likely to be sniffing something up their nose. I have asked the 1 decent neighb...

Good luck with your results - should be about 2 - 3 weeks. If you register on-line, giving your applicant number & a password, they issue the results a few days earlier. For things like "Exam nerves" - everyone is different. When I was a kid, I used to enter in for music festivals, an...

Re: Grade 1 Exam Thursday

My lovely piano is dated 1971 - and a dream to play. I love the fact it needs more of an effort to play, probably as I'm used to it and wouldn't want it any other way. Gillthepiano - this might sound like an excuse, but the piano I practised and played on was, to me, awful. The keys on my piano are really heavy and I like it and am used to it.
