I'm here! Yes, we're all a bit quiet aren't we? I actually got up early this morning to make a gooseberry and apple pie. OK, I know that's boring, but there's not much else to tell! I'm hoping for bad weather today so I don't feel guilty for practicing the piano instead of digging the garden. Jan xx

Marshall & Rose upright
Good people, Please can you tell me more about my Marshall & Rose upright? Its serial number is 206237. I thought it was 1985, the tuner thought 1989... to be honest, if I didn't know they weren't made any more, I'd have said it was made last week it's so clean inside! Can you tell me a bit more...

I'm still unsure about what to do with Fiona. Of course I don't WANT to get rid of her, and it would make me deeply unhappy to do so but if needs be, then I will. Why? Surely, she doesn't eat that much?? Any small amount you get from selling her will soon be gone and you won't have the pleasure of ...

My wife has withdrawn funding for my monthly piano lessons. . really? If so, I'm truly sorry, Dave. Don't you dare think of giving up Fiona; your lessons were teaching you stuff, but you'd done 99.99% of it all by yourself already and will carry on learning, lessons or no lessons. Wet Monda...

A piano needing TLC!
Hello to all, I was invited to a friend's house today and she said I could have a play on her old piano.... she agreed it was in desparate need of tuning, but the strange thing was, it had absolutely no damping at all, no matter what pedal you pressed, or didn't press, it was like the sustain pedal ...

A lot of modern upright pianos don't have locks. You can get a clampy-type ting which locks it shut, but I find a few piles of books on the fall deters most casual small vandals. Mine has no lock, but I have a child that knows mummy turns into a screeching harpy if so much as a sticky finger is wav...

Hi Anna, Firstly, I'm really sorry you've been left feeling a little flat after your much longed-for piano lesson. For what is't worth, I pay 10.50 for a half hour and it's worth every penny. Hi there Anna, The Father Charles thing tells you in which order the sharps are written in the key signature F then C then G etc and the reverse mmmmnemonic is for the flats B, E. Hello Pianotechman, Uxbridge is my old stamping ground! Yes, I'm still very pleased with what I bought. Key signatures - blindingly stupid question
Please bear with me, this probably sounds crazy, but what is the point of a key signature? I realise it tells you which sharps and flats to expect, but they are written at the front of the line, so WHY oh why, it is important to be able to say "Ah-Ha, Horace! That's in Eb Major!" Does it t...

We've had foxes in the area so our girls are in a big fox-proof (we hope) enclosure and there's another run inside it that has an anti-dig skirt around it and their door is locked at night.
