My 2 cents - from the angles of the photos I can see it has new bass strings and new damper felt (which seem a bit uneven), though the steel strings seem original. Soundboard has at least one repaired split. If you could take out the music desk at provide other photos of the inside. Interesting as l...

Brinsmead patented wrest pins

Hi, yesterday I "experienced" the joys of the Brinsmead patented wrestpins. As Barrie says on the page http://www.uk-piano.org/history/brinsmead.html there were improvements in the design, I think this was one of the latter ones and fortunately the tuning lever was still there. http://laws...

That was actually done by a customer of mine, he just went at it with hammer, screwdrivers and chisel and took it to pieces, not the correct way but iin the end he got it done. Fitted the interion with mirror panels and shelves. Those are his cut glass crystal drinks glasses on the shelves.

Simply put, it would sound worse. You would notice that the hammers are positioned in a straight line (strike line) where they hit the stings. It is a point worked out be the designer to be the optimum point to get the best harmonics from the string. Proportionally where the top hammer hits the shor...

My you have lots of questions  I can give an answer just based on what you say - yes it does not seem right that the piano is out of tune. But, what is the condition of the piano, although it was tuned 6 months ago, maybe it hadn't been tuned for 5 years before that! Are these only pianos you h...

I think it could be from limitations of little to no regulation of the piano, some dealers just unpack them out the box and put them on the floor for sale. You mention the piano is 2 years old so in that time it will have gone through some climate/humidity change and if it hasn't had any attention i...

The dealer you bought from should be able to send a piano tech to you to sort it out. Maybe just a lack of prepping by the dealer? An "upright grand" from my observation is just a marketing term. A piano is a grand or an upright. For your other point, I guess the technology in making pianos improved that manufactures realized they could make smaller piano, but then on the opposite side of the coin it is how manufactur...

A piano and an electronic keyboard are vastly different in feel and touch. A keyboard has a soft, no resistance feel to it.

You can learn the piano and then play a keyboard but the opposite is not succesful

Piano action pictures

Thought I might as well get around to posting a question. Is there a url with a definitive series of pictures of different piano actions (grand & upright) on the web. I tuned a Cramer grand today, had a knotch instead of a roller, but the wippen was similar to a regualar action.
