Dave, my teacher charged £12 for 30 mins - and the lesson always lasts longer than that! (probably something to do with my teacher having lots of children as pupils and not too many adults?). I fully recognise the costs involved - have you considered 1 lesson a month or some way of a comp...

A bit different for me!! As I'm new to piano (7 hrs of lessons completed) I am working on "a little help from my friends" by Lennon/McCartney, "Starlight" by Muse and my favourite, "great gig in the sky" by Pink Floyd- really enjoying some of the lovely sounding chords....

Just another thought following my last post......

The other option is a reconditioned Yamaha U1 or U3.

2 to 21/2 thousand pounds is a fortune to me and that is why I am so concerned about getting right.

Your comments would be greatly appreciated

Steinmayer S108

Hi All Following my previous posts in relation to buying a budget upright, I am totally confused!!!! I was originally taken by the Yam b1 and possibly the silent version if funds allowed however having played it a little in my local dealer, it appears to sound "metallic" and harsh in some ...

I've got the Casio PS-20 which seemed a decent choice for a beginner after reading lots of reviews.....I think they are about £600 new but got mine second hand without a mark for £225 and well pleased

Hi Anna I currently take lessons on an acoustic piano but have a digital casio piano at home (PS-20) for practicing. The keys are full size and weighted but its still not the same however that said my practice at home is benefitting me massively within my lessons and the point for me is that it's st...

The Cranes is a lacklustre little piano. Furthermore, the stick-on badge inside the piano reads "Estabilished 1851". If they can't be bothered to check the spelling on a mass-market item, just imagine what else is wrong with it. Very cheap and what a Chinese piano was like a decade ago. C...

Thanks for your advice all....I'm going along to the two main dealers in Cardiff (Cranes and Gamlins) to look at a selection of new uprights. Prior to purchasing I am going to ask my tutor to come along and help me in my choice. I do really like the look of the Yamaha B1, I just hope it sounds as go...

Buying advice...new upright

Hi everybody I am learning to play (last 6 weeks) and know the interest is one which I will continue with. I have a Casio digital which is great but I would like to get an acoustic instrument...... For my budget, I think I can manage a new Yamaha B1 or the less expensive Cranes CJS-109L upright both...
