Welmar Berlin
Sadly my Dad passed away back in September.
Before he died he promised me his old piano which we used to play together when I was a little boy. Im 42 now and and determined to learn to play.
I now have the piano at home and it’s my pride and joy.
I just wanted some help with its history.
Would be so grateful if I could find any information on it.
It shows as a Welmar Berlin and as imported by Blüthner and Co Ltd on the nameboard.
The serial number matches a 1939 welmar London but this matches none of the models I can find associated with a welmar. It also has a number in the wood
H20679 and JL03438
It’s tall for an upright.
Can anyone assist ?
Would be so very grateful.
Thanks for all your help.

WEIMAR
WEIMAR seems to be an alias used on pianos sold by Harrods, nothing to do with WeLmar, and their number would suggest that they sold it in 1925. I am surprised that Berlin is mentioned in the name, and also that Bluthners are mentioned on this piano.
I have no idea who made them, or even if they were genuinely German, but if the action (the working parts of the notes) is German-made, your local tuner will advise you about whether it is safe to remove the action and look for the action makers' name and number, which I may be able to date.

Re: Welmar Berlin
To clarify WEIMAR is not mentioned only WELMAR.
What’s weird is the serial number seems to be in the correct format for a 1939 WELMAR
Have a look at the photos - are they attaching OK?
So appreciate your help

Re: Welmar Berlin
Welmar is nothing to do with Berlin.
