Piano case restoration/polishing

Post by Tone »

Hi there
does anyone know how much it should cost to get the case of a piano repolished? We are looking to buy and are considering older pianos that need a bit of work.
Thank you

That's an "{how long is a piece of string " questions.

A lot depends on the state of the pianos vasnear, type of woodr. Is the Polish polyester, satin finish or is it French polish or Open grain

If it's a grand piano and you want it polyester in generally look at £100 per foot
So if you've got a 9 foot grand it's gonna cost you 9K

Okay, thank you.
I don't think we want polyester, probably French polished.

I believe Marcus Roberts of Roberts Pianos Oxford reckons 80 hours to re-French polish a grand piano. You will have to guess the hourly rate but don't forget to add a piano dealer's uplift (30% perhaps) for organising the job.
