Grade 1 in December

Post by Nutroast »

Not for me, but for Nutcutlet, though I'm probably more anxious than she is! She's chosen her pieces, now it's practice time!

Well done, Cutlet! Better stock up on Prozac and/or earplugs, Nutroast; you'll be hearing an awful lot of the same pieces for the next few months!

Her exam was last Thursday. Sshhh.... we're quietly optimistic, it seemed to go really well. It was her first ever formal exam of any kind so she was a bit nervous (me too). Now the wait for the results...... I'm one proud camper whatever the result.

That's very very good, Nutty. You must be very proud of her. And she hasn't rushed into it either so she's had plenty of time to practice and prepare for it! Hope she gets a really good result, or she's happy herself with what she gets.

I was in Gamlins' music store in Cardiff on Friday and I inadvertantly stumbled on an ABRSM exam waiting room, so it just reminded me it was 'that time of the year' once again.

Fingers crossed for Cutlet then! I'm sure it was all good; Dave's right, she wasn't rushed through it and that's a key thing in exams. Let us know!

I will keep you informed!

Hello Dave, hello Gill, I've missed you both. Great to hear from you again.

edit PS. Cutlet always plays better on a heavier action piano for some reason. Anyway, she was given the choice of instruments when she went into the exam room and told me "The grand piano was a lovely black and the sun coming in the window was shining off it, so I chose it to play". I just love that - soppy old thing that I am. Somehow, that quote will always move me :-)

I was reminded of Nutcutlet when I met a girl and her dad about to go her own Grade 1 in Moseley yesterday!

The waiting rooms are hilarious; the kids lounging around and the adults sitting bolt upright, rigid with fear, either on their own behalf or the kid's!

Yes indeed, Monty Python would have a field day observing one of those music exam rooms as they're full of comedic capital. Are you taking accompanying work on this exam season Gill?

Just one G3 singer. Haven't heard of any results yet but I'm sure she passed with flying colours.
