Re: Good value piano removal - HELP!!
Also distance involved (round trip)/ access/ steps/ stairs etc
Dont have to reveal their name - but some price indicator would obviously be needed to compare prices.
I was quoted around XXX (you know!) for a 6ft grand removal (part load), 400 mile round trip, few steps - that was a reputable company.
I used to do grands, but just uprights now if asked...... grands are too much hassle, customers regularly knocking down price, and for the work involved/ wages/ etc.... I try and get someone else to them!

That's interesting. I've been quoted £530 one way. It's a C3 from Derby to Haywards Heath in Sussex, about 190 miles. And that's as a part load.
Seems very steep to me.
Thanks,
MV.

First they no longer have a depot in MK. Also, Colin you may have got your price at trade The diesel for a 400 mile round trip in a lorry will be eye wateringColin Nicholson wrote:Try Piano Logistics (Milton Keynes) .... thats where I got my quote. The piano is near Woolwich (East London) - piano moving to W Yorkshire soon.... so I didnt think that was bad. I dont know how far it is from Derby to Sussex (havent got my multimap head on !!) .... is that 190 miles one way, or return? (Guessing its one way). They also whap the price up if steps etc are involved.... but mine is not even a full sized step, about half a kerb height. Try their on-line quotation form.

I've no idea what price they'd charge for moving that piano but it won't be as much as your other quote

Re: Good value piano removal - HELP!!
Thanks so much for all the replies and advice. In fact the company that gave the "crazy" quote I reported on has been named in this thread but I won't say which one

Anyway, I've managed to book a reputable piano specialist firm whose quote was excellent. They're going to move 2 pianos for me and assuming all goes well I'll name them as being highly recommended. Suffice to say, they're doing the two pianos for less than the other quote (albeit one is local).
I'll keep you posted, and thanks again, folks.

Make sure the insurance they have is not just for the piano that how some save money they only insure the piano, but if they damage the floor's or wall's that comes out of your pocket. The devil is in the small printModel V wrote:Dear all,
