hi does anyone know what the long cardboard thing that goes full lenth of a piano or keyboard indicatiing the notes is called they usually fold up it also names the notes eg cdefgabc and goes all the way along

Try 'keyboard indicator'. It's 30 years since I worked in a music shop, but that's what they were called then. Do without it as soon as you can, though - otherwise it's like riding a bike with stabilisers on!
