Best places to hear pieces online

Post by sylvia »

I play mostly baroque and classical & have been looking for a respository of keyboard pieces online to listen to like this one for Bach http://kunstderfuge.com/bach/harpsi.htm. Has anyone come across anything similar? I have tried youtube & itunes but it's a bit hit&miss.

If you go to Google and do a search for "mp3, baroque and classical", loads of site come up with either samples or whole pieces of music from those two periods.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend any because my soundcard went on the computer a couple of days ago!

Thank you. Too bad about yr computer. It's not that i'm looking for general music from those eras. I often have a specific work (or even part of a work) that i want to hear whilst i'm learning a piece So (and i know it's a long shot!) i'm looking for some repository where i can find say a particular clementi sonatina for instance. Youtube has been my best bet so far, but if anyone come across anything else, please get in touch!

Try http://www.piano-lessons-master-teachers.com/

There are a set of videos of famous pianists on this website under "Directory of Music performances". Mostly v. difficult pieces of course (lots of Chopin), and all the ones I've looked at are from You-tube, but it might be a useful compendium.
