Friedrich Gulda's piano

Post by Openwood »

I've just been listening to Gulda's recording of the Forty-Eight (eccentric but often beautiful - the playing not the pianist, you understand). I think it was recorded in his own studio; does anyone know what type of piano he had? It doesn't sound like a 9-footer - in fact it doesn't sound like he used the same piano throughout. The sound in the C major Prelude from Bk. 2 is so bright it could be a digital piano but other tracks have a lovely bell-like singing tone to the melody. Anyway, if you know what he was driving I'll give you a huge cash prize*

*Sometimes huge cash prizes may have to be replaced by a general feeling of goodwill which I will pass on to you via thought-waves.
