Restore Steinway upright c1920 or not

Post by richarddale »

I have considered buying a Steinway upright of this vintage in good playing condition (I'll get it checked out), I've seen a few for around ?2000 - ?2500, spend say up to 2-3000 on a rebuild/restore, total outlay say 5000
or I could buy a modern quality german s/h upright say grotrian steinweg for about the same money

what is the best idea, I know it depends on what I want, older pianos do look better and are made of wood rather than MDF or whatever, also I do not know how the sound of the steinway is going to come out
basically I want a quality piano for that money maybe in a few years it will be traded in for a grand
