Schreiber pianos

Post by john martin »

I'm on the market for a S/H piano and I've just seen a Schreiber piano on ebay.
I've got about ?300 - ?350 to spend and quite fancy a 1970's smallish kind of thing.

What I need to know is; a) is ebay a bad move on the piano front? and b) are Schreiber pianos ok and what other makes should I look for?

I'm not a 'proper' pianist, (knock out some chords a sing) but my 6 yr old daughter is showing some interest so...................

Any help gratefully received.

I Have only tuned 2 both c1970 in teak Just your standard 1970s mass-produced piano they had the Barrrat action with the floating centre which can
become clicky can't remember if the have the plastic membrane key bushings as well which if they go then you have to replace with over size bushing cloth or fill and re-mortise the keys.

As for buying from Ebay the same rules apply when buying form this site get someone to look at it The price at 350 is a bargain if the piano is in good nick
