NEED ADVICE On piano purchase

Post by Lynvcon »

Hi!

I don’t know anything about pianos but I saw this one on FB market for $100. Is it worth buying for my daughter? Or has the paint ruined it?

Thanks!

Paint has not necessarily ruined it unless it is impeding the movement of the keys. It is the internal condition of the piano that matters, whether it sounds nice, keeps itself in tune and the keys move pleasantly under the fingers. I can't tell the age from your photograph but please be aware that pianos do not improve with age.

PS I noticed from the second photograph that the piano has three pedals and a relatively modern looking case so it my not be tremendously old. Hopefully the soundboard at the rear wasn't painted.
