Yamaho Nippon Gakki SKK serial no. 35497

Post by imeyers »

Dear All,

I would need some help in finding out how old this piano is. It was bought in China.

Any idea how much it could be worth?

Thank you for your help.

Best,

Isabelle

Nippon Gakki was the original company name of Yamaha. The company changed it's name to Yamaha Corporation in October 1987, it's 100th anniversary. If the piano is authentic, it is a Yamaha built in 1938.

If the spelling is actually "Yamaho", then it is probably a fake. I've never seen a fake Yamaha, but I have come across some evidence that there are some (Chinese ?) copies around, esp in the Far East, such as apparently recent models where the serial numbers don't match the age of the piano. This well may be the case with an (apparently) ancient Yamaha piano bought in China.

Dear Adrian,

Thank you so much for this piece of information.

Would you by any chance know how much it could be worth if it were an original? My piano tuner believes it is and so do I. :D

In any case, thank you so much for replying.

Best,

Isabelle

Firstly, an original what? YamahO? Or Yamaha? Nobody anywhere can guess the condition or value of a piano without on-the-spot inspection.

Dear All,

It is a Yamaha, I noticed I had not spelled the name correctly in my first posting.
Any idea how much a piano like that would sell. I am selling it but I don't know how much to ask for it.

Best,

Isabelle

Depends on the condition both inside and out. Nobody can give you any idea whatsoever without a physical inspection any more than if you had asked "what's a Ford Modeo worth?"
