Carl Ehrlich, Berlin

Post by smj276 »

Hi all, New member here. I have just moved my Grandmother to a new home and she has this piano. It has Carl Ehrlich, Berlin written on it and so far I have been unable to find any info on it. As you lot are closer to Europe than I... ( I am in Australia) I thought you may be able to enlighten me a little. We are wondering if it is worth fixing up. Actually it only needs a tune. but no-one in our family plays the piano so I am trying to find an approximate value for it as we may end up selling it.

The first rule when searching on the net is to check that you have the correct spelling. We have no information ready on computer about this particular Ehrlich, but I'll see what I can find. It looks a typical German upright of about a century ago, and if you know how to remove the action safely (the working parts of the notes) the action maker's name and number may be on there somewhere, and we may be able to date this. See also the Datemarks link at pianogen.org

To say "it only needs a tune" makes the assumption that it can be tuned at all. No-one anywhere can give you a valuation until it has been checked over by your tuner. See the Valuations link at pianogen.org

You're a legend, and any info would be appreciated. we will get a tuner to take a look at it.
