Upright John Brinsmead and Sons in RSA

Post by Cher-Lee »

I bought a piano as a prop for a show. After investigation, I found where the serial number is, which is 42002. It's an upright piano. This puts it between 1901 - 1910, I think.

Now, for a show, I would gut the piano to make it lighter ... but I could not do that to a classical piece.

How do I find out more about this piano and the value of it?

Sorry, I tried turning the first pic around before posting ... but it keeps coming up that way! Apologies.

I would have said the serial number suggests about 1887.
Nobody anywhere can guess the value or condition of a piano without inspecting it on the spot, and checking how well it holds in tune, so your local tuner is the best person to ask.

Thank you. A piano tuner saw it yesterday and said that the inside is very bad. Unfortunately.

So I will take the insides out and polish it up ... just as an ornament.

I need to make it lighter for relocation.
