Post by vic133 »

Hi,
thanks you for adding me in this group.

We have now a piano Collard & Collard ( around 1820)
The serial number is : 10652

How and where we can find the history of this piano?

We have just got this piano..we are in Quebec, Canada

So, I think the piano traveled a lot !😊

Thank to you all !

Have a good day !

Collard & Collard piano

Post by Bill Kibby »

Firstly, in spite of some of the published information, Clementi's name appeared first, until his death in 1832, so the piano is not 1820. A more likely estimate is 1872, but it is always unwise to date a piano purely on the basis of numbers. This applies especially to Collards, whose numbers are rarely straightforward.
Sadly, Collards' archives were lost in a fire, and I probably have more information than anyone else. My Numbers page...

has a section about Clementi & Collard numbers.
Are you able to post photos to show what the whole piano looks like?
