Strohmenger London

Post by peter5757 »

Wondering about the attached Stronhmenger London upright piano?
Was my partners Father's.
Wondering what to do with it now or if it is worth anything?
Where would the serial number be?

Nobody anywhere can guess the value or condition of a piano without inspecting it on the spot, so your local tuner is the best person to ask.
If you open the top, you should be able to see numbers, which may tell us the date. It looks like twenties.
1914 #13,400 Strohmenger & Sons piano has 3.4.14 written on the keys, and is also thought to have been a wedding present to the owner's parents in 1914.
1914 #13,700 Strohmenger & Sons piano marked 9.11.14F on frame: Action made by Lexow, and its numbers also confirm the year.
1926 #17,036 J. Strohmenger upright player piano is dated 30th September 1926.

If you want to search inside the piano for clues, have a look at

Hi Bill
Thank you for your reply.

I think the number you want is 19592? (see attached)

Any idea of rough value / range of values?

thanks

Pete

I am sorry the software for attachments has become very troublesome, it's not my website.
We can't help with value, the number suggests 1932.
