Rushworth & Dreaper Pianola with Malcolm mechanics

Hi I have a pianola I can get the scrolls to go round but the piano keys don't play when this is happening. Any ideas please? Also I have a serial number but can't seem to find out how old it is. I would appreciate any help as I would love to hear it working properly

Does the actual name Pianola appear on the piano? I can't advise you about the player action ("Pianola") but if the piano action was made by Malcolm, it should have a white paper label on the rear of the hammer rail, which gives a number I may be able to date. Some are listed in the Malcolm entry at

Hi,

I have an upright H.Hicks and sons Ltd piano. The serial number is 14444, wondering what the year is?

Thanks

This should really be posted as a new topic, because it has nothing to do with the heading. I had an enquiry about this piano in 2016 from someone called Rose. I can only estimate 1910-13 based on the number. Can you post photos here to show what the whole piano looks like? Or email them to me?
