H.Hicks and Sons Ltd year

Post by Tvrose »

Hi,

I have an upright H.Hicks and sons Ltd piano. The serial number is 14444, wondering what the year is?

Thanks!

It is always risky trying to date a piano purely on the basis of numbers, as explained at
http://www.pianohistory.info/numbers.html

Very few makers published reliable dates of their numbers, and all I can say is that it is probably around 1910-13. If you could post photos here to show us what the whole piano looks like, unobscured by dogs, stools or vases etc., I may be able to tell you more.

Thanks for the photos, I would guess this was made around 1909, so that fits in well enough with the number. Have a look at
