Post by art4life »

Hello We have a piano, H. Sharples & Son / Blackburn, serial #25496. Would anyone have any information on this or be able to guide us where to find information? Thank you.

Sharples is thought to be one of many dealers who put their names onto pianos bought in from anonymous wholesalers, so serial numbers don't help. He doesn't appear in my lists for the 1800s.

In 1903, he supplied a piano from Blackburn, probably 2 Northgate: These premises have been replaced by modern buildings.

By 1911, it was H. Sharples & Son Ltd. at 77 Church Street, Blackpool. These premises were replaced by Ponden Mill's building. By 2011, the local council had taken over the address.

If you can post photos here to show me what the piano looks likeor email them to me at pianohistory.info I may be able to tell you more, but have a look at my Edwardian page
