Hauptmann grand

I have a grand piano marked
CHAS STILES & CO SOUTHAMPTON ROW WC
23172
With the name HAUPTMANN on the key board cover.
Any information you can give me would be appreciated.

Charles Stiles was an importer, notably of Bord pianos. "Hauptmann" is thought to be an alias used by Stiles on pianos bought in from an anonymous German wholesaler. Most examples of "Hauptmann" pianos also have Stiles' name on them, and our research has not found a real maker named Hauptmann. No dates of serial numbers are available, except that #21935 is dated 1922 on the keys. If you want to search for clues inside the piano, have a look at
