John Brinsmead & Sons No.26541

Post by Tomrcook »

Hello, my friend recently bought a piano from a antique shop and we where wondering if anyone could tell us the age of it, we don't no much about pianos but its a upright John Brinsmead & Sons piano with the number 26541 on it, it also has S4307 on the inside of the piano.I think theres some kind of army badge painted on the inside but i cant be sure
Thanks for any help you can give

26541 would suggest that it was made in 1878, so it is probably a Victorian cottage piano, as described at

It would be interesting to see photos of the whole piano, if you could post them here, or email them to me. The number beginning with S is probably a retailer's stock number.

I can only guess that the "badge" might be an exhibition medal, as described at

If you find old references or links on this site to pianogen.org, they should refer to pianohistory.info
