Steinberg Piano model by serial number?

Post by ireneL »

I have a Steinberg piano with no paperwork, i don't even know when the instrument was purchased and manufactured. I have a serial number (printed behind the keyboard) and W Steinberg inprint in the front. How can I get more information, regarding a specific model (this in an upright), year of manufacture, etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated. thank you!

What is the serial number?

The only way of finding out the model is if it is written inside somewhere. Many completely different pianos with different sets of numbers have borne the Steinberg name, search for Steinberg on this forum.

Can you upload some photos here, or email them to me?

Although I am aware of Wilh. Steinberg, established in Eisenberg 1877, I have no dates of their serial numbers. As you can read on my own website pianogen.org the whole idea of dating pianos by numbers is full of problems, but it would be interesting to know what the number is.

You can also search for Steinberg on this forum.

I have removed the photo as requested, I would guess the piano might be about as old as me, 1947, but it could be later. Even if it were possible to know the exact model, it would not help you in any practical way, because if you had a Steinberg XYZ, nobody would know what that was.
