you're probably closer to doing Grade 3 than I am at the mo
Hi Dave,

Well I’m not really in a hurry to do grade 3 at the moment. I don’t have piano lessons until sometime in January, my teacher is busy preparing for the end of term on the course she is doing, so she probably has a lot of homework and rehearsals etc.

I’m quite happy building up repertoire at the moment, there are so many pieces I would like to learn. Plus I would like my teacher to introduce me to some Latin American music (she specialises in it) if there is any my level, it would be cool to play other styles 8) .

I’m going through the grade 3 sight reading book, and am picking up pieces from beginner books to sight read now. Started learning some new scales. You may even beat me to grade 3! That’s if your teacher allows you to do it soon.

I look forward to seeing your certificate! :)

The comments seem fair and encouraging.

Ironically, one of your best sections was your sight reading!

It was a joke, poppet... as for crossing yourself, perhaps he was impressed by your piety! That or the tie...:)

I've not been around for a while, but congratulations Dave. Sadly I've slipped with regards to my Piano, not had lessons for the last month or so due to a combination of illnesses for all the family. Hope to start up again early Jan. I need to do a lot of practice again.

Congratulations Mr Brum.
I stumbled upon this board a while back looking for inspiration and other hopeless old folks like me who are doing piano exams.
I just passed my grade 1 with 125, which I find amazing since I was convinced I messed everything up sooooooo badly on the day. Anyway that means grade 2 for me now, so I am 1 behind you. How long between your 1 and 2 exams? I'm aiming for 6 months...
Cheers,
Jellyroll

Happy Christmas, Steve!
Indeed, the thump of the casio keyboard might wake Louise. Anyway as I said I hope to start again soon (seems my lapse coincided with my move into the loft)

Thanks DaveBrum,
I always get John Martyn confused with Martin Taylor for some weird reason, perhaps I'm getting old. Anyway i'll try to dig out some CD's because I like that style a lot.
I'm looking forward to starting up again, and getting stuck into some more lessons starting next week. My wife does rather despair at my plonking though, especially when I try to serenade her. I'll let you know how it goes (the lessons, not the serenading).
