Nice to have you aboard! Are you a beginner or an established pianist?
I play for my own amazement... :piano;

Hello, my name is Umar. I've been playing the piano since January 2015 (3 years now) and currently know about 17 songs off by heart, in a range of genres and artists (Bruno Mars, Yann Tiersen, Pachelbel, Dj Snake, Justin Hurwitz, Katy Perry, Yiruma, Ed Sheeran, Ludovico Einaudi and a few others.)
For a majority of the songs I learnt, I also made them my own arrangements (usually little changes, like adding in some missing notes, changing tempo of some notes, and some songs I even merged from multiple tutorials.)
I also love technology, soldering, video games (currently playing Assassin's Creed) and a few other things.
Feel free to message me if you would like to know more and I look forward to hearing from you :)

Hello! My name is Simon, a piano teacher based over in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I run Piano Lessons Belfast - http://www.pianolessonsbelfast.com - having moved over to Belfast from York, where I studied music and worked as a musician and musical director. I thought I would join the forum to help network with other music teachers - being a piano teacher can be quite a solitary lifestyle in terms of reaching out to other music teachers, so fantastic to be a part of a forum like this where I can meet fellow music teachers and music enthusiasts! :)

Hello Shadow935. I have never heard anyone say they are interested in soldering before. What do you solder ? Electronic components by any chance ?

Hello SimonBurrowes. Good luck with your teaching practice. What sort of things did you study in the music course at York ?

It's been quite a while that I registered for this forum. Now I found this thread inviting me to introduce myself, so why not do it?

I am an amateur pianist from Hamburg, Germany. I am quite active on PianoWorld and I am making and uploading recordings for the IMSLP, just for fun. The Museopen project found them good enough to copy and offer for download on their site as well, so I cannot be too bad. This is me:

Apart from classical music I like to play jazz standards and light music by ear like this Ray Charles tune

Hello a Newby to this forum. My daughter aged 13 and son aged 8 are having lessons. My daughter has just passed ABRSM Grade 3 and my son is prepping for his first “prep” exam. We live in Staffordshire and have a very good home teacher who comes to is once every week.
We have managed on our cheap and cheerful £100 piano for 6 years having it tuned by a local technician but the time has come to upgrade hopefully to a Yamaha U3, without breaking our budget
I’m researching and enquiring but want to use this forum for advice and assistance should I locate one miles from where I live.
Kind Regards
Anthony

Hello I’m Andrew. I’m returning to the piano after 45 years. My principal instrument has been the Oboe which I still play but I’ve wanted to return to the Piano for many years and the opportunity has presented itself. I’ve found an excellent teacher and am searching for the right piano, several are on my list so I’m not quite yet sat at the keyboard. I’m interested in what sort of music will be appropriate for an adult returner (?), I’m interested in classical music from Haydn onwards ( Bach is a given of course) and I have all my scores from childhood, all hardback cloth bound ( some cost as little as £2.00 which has made me laugh, it was that long ago) but much of it is far too advanced for my current state of playing. So if any one has suggestions for nice re introduction music that would be lovely but please no ABBA or pop music/film music, it’s really not my thing.

Thank you.

Hello Andrew,
Welcome to this forum and good luck with your piano search.
I returned to piano lessons at the age of forty years after having a gap of more than twenty five years. However I had been trying to teach myself for say five years before approaching my first adult teacher. The mistake that both my teacher and I made was that we began to tackle pieces that were much too difficult. We should have started with something rather simpler that hopefully I would have progressed rapidly through and it would have laid a better foundation for later on.
I will gladly think about some pieces which you might like to tackle but in the meantime could you give me some idea how much progress you made in your younger years.
