Manufacturers do not publish dates for electronic pianos as they only tend to support spare parts for seven years. If you want more information, you could contact Yamaha at Milton Keynes. They may be able to cross-reference the serial number. They keep a list of numbers for warranty purposes. Barrie

The regulating specs are the same as the U1. However, (sadly there's always one of them in life). Your best bet is to strip it with a paint stripper, including the edge but mask off the underneath. Re-stain and respray.

Replacing items that need replacing is a recondition action A rebuild is completely different. Most pianos don't warrant the cost of a rebuild it's better to buy a new piano.

If your tuner believes the piano is in good condition, then regulation should make a difference.

1905 un reconditioned Steinway uprights don't even get that sort of cash

Looks like it was modified in the fifties to make it look more modern, and they probably removed the serial number .

Knights are a good make however, like anything secondhand, it's how it's been looked after that counts rather than the make.

Your piano is listed in Pierce as a maker, but no other info.
it's about c1900 if you can get the case parts off and take out the Bottom A key it may have been dated by the action finisher.

The Kawai GL30 should have a nicer base and mid-range, which is great for jazz, but the Yamaha probably has better top trouble.

I do have a lot of all three models on my round, but I do like the Kawai GL30 over the Yamaha C1

In normal practice, you will get a piano tuner to go and look at the piano, if you look between the strings at the top treble, you can see the hammers, and see if they got any very deep cuts.

They were established in 1839, going off its legs, I would say around 1900 in Bills notes at the back of the piano musicians Atlas he has serial number 2588 = c1927

A few people convert them into cocktail cabinets or writing desks, and some into digital pianos.
