Id go for the Kawai anytime as I don't like the sound of Yamaha's. But its personel opinion. Also remember the construction will be better on the Kawai as its a solid soundboard and give better resonance.

The abs carbon action is far supeiror to the wooden action in mnay ways. Best you read the website of Kawai. Why would you need to repair the plastic? Its near impossible to break.

If I had the extra money, borrow, steal and sell body parts, Id get the K3. Its a great piano with a trusted designed back, carbon action and 121cm for a rich bass.
Kawai prices have gone up this month, be quick and you might get them at the old price.

sorry, there isn't a "what piano" mag or website. I really wouldnt get worked up about quality etc as nearly all pianos are built to a good standard, just depends on how long you want it to last, and I suspect most new pianos will last 50 years before needing to be replaced as bass strings...

well, I can not say being a dealer, just that I think you can get it down a bit. If you google, there are a number of dealers selling U1a for around 2400 -2700. I just don't like dealers who lie or over inflate prices and offer big discounts.

a basic system will do and have record and other instruments on it. The system can be fitted in the home and can take 1-4 hours to fit depending on piano. About £1k is the average for a fitted system. Don't expect the value of the piano to increase much by having the system fitted though.

The Irmler P118 is a very nice mellow tone and the K3 has a rounded Euro tone. The Samick WSU121 is nice and mellow but Samick use German hammers and they're German scaled so they tone nicely. But a good tuner/technician can tone a piano down but remember when you come to sell it that toning a Yamah...
