The type of panel used on the top door suggests that it might be from around 1890, but the trusses that support the keyboard are very plain, and perhaps suggest Edwardian, so have a look at http://www.pianohistory.info/edwardian.html I think the number is nearer to 1890. I can't recognise the parts where 58269 is imprinted, are they keys? I can't make out what the vertical things are. I can find no record that any maker ever described an instrument as "Ship's piano", this seems to be an invention of the internet. A Yacht Piano is a small upright with fold-away keyboard. Yours is in the style of the 1930s Minipianos, but I am surprised to see the Marshall name on its own...

It seems too much of a coincidence, but I can't imagine that it would have a brass nameplate if he just owned the piano, unless he had it made for just the one piano. Perhaps it was a joke?

I have no trace of a piano in this style being made in the war, but what often happens is that a secondhand piano is bought for a child, and they don't know how old it was, so they think it is new.

By 1928, my "Musique Adresses Universel" lists T.E.Bevan & Co. as having branches in Calcutta, Darjeeling, Lahore, Mussoorie & Naini Tal.
