Quick question regarding insurance costs when moving a piano

Hi Folks, I'm looking at having my upright piano moved into storage briefly whilst some building works are undertaken. I obtained an initial quote from a well known company which included insurance to the value of £5k. When I provided further detail to suggest that the piano value was c. £20,000 on ...

Re: Yamaha U1 or U3 Piano at £2200, too good to be true?

have the piano inspected by a technician and if possible make sure you go and play it yourself as well... then you will know whether it's a good deal or not, and more importantly, whether you actually like it :)

I would have thought that for 12k you could expand the range of instruments you are looking at quite considerably.... play lots of all sorts would be my advice rather than deciding from the outset that it has to be one of two Yamaha models. They are nice pianos for sure, but there are lots of others...

Re: Need Help with very old Grand Piano

Hi Guga, Have a look inside the piano case and try and locate a serial number on either the cast iron plate or the soundboard. That is the easiest way to track the age of the instrument. I would suggest you post this thread in the piano history section of these forums as well. Bill Kibby is pretty a...

The Kawai RX2 gets some very nice reviews in various places and might be something to consider.... Not sure whether you could pick one up for your budget limit though - but well worth looking at that and the larger RX3 in secondhand listings too perhaps?

you could also consider renting a piano, preferably a model you are considering purchasing as that will give you ample time to test drive it and hopefully offset some of the rental fee against purchase price should you proceed to buying..... just a further thought :)
