Firstly, speak to Mum about what help he gets at school. He may have glasses with coloured lenses which can help some children with dyslexia. It depends on why you are cleaning the keys.
If it is just routine cleaning, I use a barely damp microfibre cloth - tap water for damping - and wipe each key individually. That will take off even stubborn fingermarks.

I did my training at Stevenson College in Edinburgh, 1997-2000 and we did a full SQA Module on Ancient Temperaments complete with practical assessment and written submissions etc. I have never been asked to tune in anything other than EQ.

Scales for the viola are written within the range or compass of the instrument and marked bowing and fingering will be specific to the viola.
