Re: Wrong Classification of scales

Scales for the viola are written within the range or compass of the instrument and marked bowing and fingering will be specific to the viola.

I have books of scales and arpeggios for piano, violin, flute, descant and treble recorders :D

Grade 8 certainly qualifies to you teach to at least the standard you are doing just now if not up to Grade 5. The fact that your pupils do well in ABRSM exams is testament to your skills as a teacher. I'm a good bit older and, hopefully, wiser than you and if a relative of mine asked me that questi...

Re: Is Grade 8 enough to teach piano?

I teach recorder (descant and treble) to children aged 7-11 at the local primary school. This is done as part of the PTA After School Clubs programme. Apart from learning to play at primary school, I have had no formal teaching in those instruments. Most of my older pupils take either treble recorde...

Hello I'm afraid that your valuation of £3,500 is the replacement value for insurance purposes and does not in any way reflect the current value of your instrument on the open market. Any dealer will offer you less than open market value - in the same way that a trade-in value for a used car is less...

Hello Chris Unfortunately, no-one can place a value on a piano without an on site inspection - not even a ball park figure, I'm afraid. Your piano is approx. 120 years old going by the numbers on the Bluthner website and, in general, old pianos are not in the least valuable even those from a good ma...

Hello As it says in the blue box at the top of this post, we are unable to place a value on your piano as an on site inspection is required. As your piano has been tuned regularly, the best person to speak to about a sale value would be your tuner. He/she will be familiar with the market for used in...

In order to get an accurate and realistic value for your piano, you need to get it assessed by your local piano tuner. As it says at the top of this Forum, we cannot place a value on your piano as an onsite inspection is required. Your local piano tuner will be able to advise you appropriately. Fiona
