Very perceptive Colin/ You should be working for MI5 /You often see things I've missed.
Of course, the " Chappell" name would have been picked out in red originally so the frame has obviously been re-sprayed, hence covering the serial number.

Never heard of an Offenberg. However,as each piano is different, if your wife accords with the touch tone and overall ambience , then go for it. I would put the price well under the £2k mark which doesn't contradict my previous ignorance of Offenberg. If it's anything to do with Steinmayer I would g...

It will be quite old as Murdochs has been out of business for donkey's years.
You will advised to pay a tuner to look at it first as whatever you pay plus the delivery charge could go a long way to purchasing a suitable cheap piano from a reputable dealer if the Murdoch turns out to be a turkey.
