Hi everyone, This may not be a proper post here but I am asking for kind help if anyone could offer. My friend will visit UK and she intends to buy a new harpsichord. Can I ask if anyone who could suggest any reputable dealers of new/second hand harpsichord? Dealers near (but not restricted) to Glas...

piano tuning course

No intention to be a professional tuner at all. Being a concert pianist, I am very interested to know if there is any part-time or short training course on piano tunings/repair? Better be in Scotland. I think it is vitally important for serious pianists to have a wee bit of tuning experience and bas...

humidity and pianos

Currently, my room is about 55 % humidity read on the hygrometer. It says the ideal humidity would be 40-50%. Do I have to dehumidifier it or just leave as it is? I am taking care of a piano for my friend at this moment and will buy one very soon. We are living very close in Scotland. I suppose the ...

Re: some thoughts on phoenix/steingraeber-phoniex pianos

The reason I exclude all non-phoenixed models is that I am a pioneering academic in structural mechanics and I have to gear myself to anything that is applicable AND PROVEN to modern piano. You have pointed out a very very good question---the richness of 170 model bass. The power of 170 is in my poi...

Re: some thoughts on phoenix/steingraeber-phoniex pianos

For S-phoenix 272, hands down, much much better than any of Steinway D I have ever played That's quite a compelling statement. Thanks for sharing your experience. It would be interesting to have a side-by-side comparison with a Steinway D and invite 10 concert pianists to share their opinion on the...

some thoughts on phoenix/steingraeber-phoniex pianos

I just came back from Hurstwood Farm owned by Richard Dain, a steingraeber&shone’s dealer, who fit their own patented Phoenix system on the steingraeber pianos, which is branded as steingraeber-phoenix piano. They also start to produce the first batch of their own brand-phoenix pianos which have...

Re: any idea of the phoenix piano in hurtswood farm?

I suggest you call them directly and I am pretty sure you will be better treated. I will keep you guys updated once i come back from Hurstwood. I look forward to be stunn...

any idea of the phoenix piano in hurtswood farm?

Hi, I was turned down by the bluthner owner and I have to search piano with a budget 15k-20k for a baby grand (5'8) around again for my parents. For myself, I am still interested in Steinway and will visit shackell next week to see if I like those in stock. Just curious to know if any of the technic...
