hi all it's been a while!! Work getting in the way of too many things.. :-( Anyway, I've got a piece of music stuck in my head and I probably should know it but I don't! It's on the trailer for a bbc show, I think it's about the man who walked the tightrope between the twin towers back in the 70s. I...

hi all :D I'm doing some Grade 1 pieces from previous years: Attwood - Sonatina no 3 in F Beethoven - Air from little Russia as well as scales (bB major, bE major and related minors) but my main focus at the moment is a waltz by E.Doga.. welcome!! I've been learning since last June ish. I'm 38  and we'd just moved into a house that was big enough to have a piano in the sitting room, so I bought one! Re: Idle chit-chatterers' corner

Hi Gill yes, you're right - it is/was a pianola :) Luckily it got into the house OK! All I know about it's history is that it used to be in a pub, as a regular piano, before my piano teacher bought it, and now it's here. Interesting to think about all the people that would have either listened to it...

Re: Idle chit-chatterers' corner

Linzy, the Steck was often a pianola; they were built like brick wotsits, because they had to withstand a battering from the pianola mechanism. Is yours an ex-pianola? Hi Gill yes, I think so - but I haven't had the lid off yet to have a proper look. It's got a very different sound my old piano, bu...
